Berserk returning on April 11!

Great news, everyone! After 15 months of waiting it looks like Berserk is coming out again!

In the last chapter of Gigantomakhia, Miura announced that the next Berserk issue is coming out on 11 April 2014. Hopefully it's not a late April fool's joke.

Praise Miura!!!

How I got into Berserk

At first I found Berserk rather disappointing. I kept mechanically reading up until the Battle for Doldrey. I didn't like the medieval theme and crossbows and how Guts' crotch armor looked super gay.
Guts' crotch

What struck me was that the main characters were described as heavily flawed! In the battle, Guts and Casca fought together at a cliff. As Casca was suffering from PMS at the time, she lost balance and Guts was forced to catch her, but fell down with her. Luckily, they fell into a river and eventually made it into a cave and stayed there to hide and recover.

However, there was this faggot general, Adon Coborlwitz, who they beat at the cliff, and he had some serious mental issues. Aaaaand he came down to look for Guts and Casca, who were thus forced to leave the cave and try to make it out.

They got ambushed and Guts was forced to defend Casca while she tried to escape (after some persuation - she didn't want to leave him behind, hurr).

The situation escalated and Guts ended up fighting for the whole night, weak, wounded and alone.

He wasn't described as a superhuman. Miura put a great emphasis on his human nature with all its immediate weaknesses.

And this is where the "epic" of Berserk first got me: Guts, a true human, fighting against 100+ people, which made him a legend. Volume 07.

World Transformation

World Transformation was a colossal event that was unintentionally triggered by slashing the Sword of Resonance, which bends space-time, causing the Astral plane to overlap with material world, unleashing mythical creatures and beasts.

Everyone in the world felt basked in a bright, warm light, waking up to hydras, dragons and other horrors wreaking havoc on the world.

From the gigantic body of the apostle Gunka, who got hit by the Sword of Resonance while reincarnated as Shiva, rose Falconia, Griffith's great city.

Dragons

Although Grunbeld, one of the apostles, has a true form of a diamond dragon, dragons as mythical creatures came to the Midland during the world Transformation shortly after chapter 300. Scarcely described, they appear to have wild nature - they take no important role in the story yet.

They are merely shown in some of the pages as the Transformation takes place - rushing into the world and settling different habitats.
